Paul McDonald
East Nashville, Tennessee indie folk/pop singer-songwriter Paul McDonald unveils the single “Bright Lights” from his debut solo album, to be released early 2015. McDonald gained notoriety after placing in the Top 10 of FOX’s American Idol. Since then he has appeared on shows such as Jay Leno, Good Morning America, Regis & Kelly, and a co-star role on the NBC’s Parenthood.
Boasting a sound that incorporates a mix of indie, pop, and folk, Paul McDonald’s influences range from the melodic pop sensibilities of Ed Sheeran, to the earnest songwriting of Ryan Adams, and the vocal rasp and presence of a young Rod Stewart meets Adam Levine. Prior to “Bright Lights” Paul McDonald was part of various projects including Hightide Blues and The Grand Magnolias where he saw national touring success opening for renowned artists including Zac Brown, Sara Bareilles, and The Black Crowes and performing at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Hangout Festival, and SXSW. In 2011, McDonald began an indie-folk duo with Twilight star Nikki Reed. Since then, the duo has released two studio albums with a notable appearance on the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack and performed on multiple late night television shows.
Paul McDonald is currently in the studio writing and recording his highly anticipated debut solo album. “The syrupy, dramatic pop song “Bright Lights” is a sampling of what McDonald has in store” (Billboard)
